Worthy Communicators and Brothers of the Wisconsin Jurisdiction,

You have never seen me send out a more urgent message and I pray that you never will again!

The attached letter to our State Deputy, from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, and their directions to me explains in clear terms the action that each of us needs to take in the next few days. Please contact your Congress men and Senators in Washington, now, to state your objection to forced abortion funding in the Health Care Reform Act.

Congress is about to pass a Health Care Reform Act that will force Catholics and all Christians of conscience to end human life on demand. Last week Archbishop Timothy Dolan, now of New York, signed what is known as the “Manhattan Declaration”. This document is cosigned by most all main stream Christian Religions in the Nation and, of course, by the USCCB. The document is brief, to the point and states emphatically as follows:

The Manhattan Declaration

A Call of Christian Conscience

Christians, when they have lived up to the highest ideals of their faith, have defended the weak and vulnerable and worked tirelessly to protect and strengthen vital institutions of civil society, beginning with the family.

We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them. These truths are:

1.       the sanctity of human life

2.       the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife

3.       the rights of conscience and religious liberty.
Inasmuch as these truths are foundational to human dignity and the well-being of society, they are inviolable and non-negotiable. Because they are increasingly under assault from powerful forces in our culture, we are compelled today to speak out forcefully in their defence, and to commit ourselves to honouring them fully no matter what pressures are brought upon us and our institutions to abandon or compromise them. We make this commitment not as partisans of any political group but as followers of Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Lord, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Brothers, read carefully the last paragraph because our Bishops are now suggesting that if this Act goes into law, in its present form, it will require Christians of conscience to resort to civil disobedience in the defense of life. This is very serious. If you are alarmed, you need to be… again, it is time that you contact your Congressmen and both Senators to voice your objection to this “Culture of Death” law.

Please bring this up at all Council Business meetings. This is a matter of faith and needs to be discussed so that actions can be taken individually and as a group. You need to have your voice heard now!

Been meaning to post this for couple of weeks now and wanted to share this story with you.  I received this inspirational story couple of weeks ago from our Green Bay 40 Days for Life coordinator:

Hey Jim,

This is Ryan Lindner. On every Thursday night from around 11 till about 4 am my buddies and I have been going to pray at the abortion clinic. It started with just 3 of my buddies, but last night we were crowding the sidewalk with 10 people. We start out our night by going to the Saint Anthony of Padua Chapel out in the woods at UWGB and just pray together to prepare ourselves for the night. Last night we had the pleasure of walking with John Cavil right after midnight, and Monsignor Klister drove by and stopped to pray a decade of the rosary with us.  (After all, it’s out of the norm to see 11 young adults walking in the rain, praying to end abortion at midnight).

Before we even finished the creed a lady crossed the street to come see what we were doing and read our signs and after she saw what we were doing she was on the verge of tears and told us that, many years ago she had an abortion. She told us all the emotional pain she went through after this abortion and how sorry she was that she had it and was so moved that we were out there in the pouring rain praying to end abortion. After this confession, Monsignor laid hands on her and prayed a prayer of forgiveness and absolution . There is no doubt in my mind that this was a miracle. To have a large enough group to call Monsignor’s attention to us and have him come pray just one decade of the rosary and for that lady to have come at that time and have the courage to reveal something so intimate. I know this was a miracle.

The first Thursday when my buddies and I started this routine I remember asking God to fill the Saint Anthony Chapel with people willing to come with us. Last night there were not enough chairs for us all.  We were packed in that tiny Chapel and we prayed hard there and when we got to the clinic.

Article about our state legislators attempts to alter education of our youth

By Kathleen Gilbert

MADISON, Wisconsin, October 30, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A law set for consideration in the Wisconsin state legislature aims to replace the abstinence-only curriculum used in the state’s public schools with one that educates students on the use of condoms and contraceptives.

The Healthy Youth Act (AB-458 and SB-324), introduced by Democrat state Rep. Tamara Grigsby and Sen. Lena Taylor last month, aims to establish a contraceptive-promoting state curriculum for all schools that have a Human Growth and Development Program.  The curriculum is billed as giving “age-appropriate, medically accurate information” on how to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.

Under current Wisconsin law, public school sex ed classes are abstinence-based.  The new law would most immediately affect the approximately six in ten public schools currently using a sex education program, according to the Pierce County Herald.

Just received this email from one of our Brother Knights in Madison who are particapating in this years 40 Days For Life

I’m sure Steve will have a much better write-up then the quickie e-mail I’m sending, but I thought since the Knights are so involved with 40 Days for Life I’d let you all know.  Steve and I have linked our Facebook page for Vigil for Life with it’s Twitter account, so anything Steve updates on Facebook also gets updated on Twitter.  This afternoon I got a Twitter update from Steve that a baby has been saved at OUR vigil site here in Madison!  Knowing Steve he probably is getting more information right now and will soon be sending it to David Bereit, who will hopefully include this information with his daily, nationally distributed 40DFL e-mail, but we are definitely making a difference!  Praise God!

Day Seven, received this e-mail from 40Days for Life.

Dear Jack,

I received a report from Houston that was both eye-opening and heartbreaking.

People participating in the 40 Days for Life vigil watched as a young man who appeared to be in tears walked into Planned Parenthood with his girlfriend and her mother.

When they left some time later, he was most certainly crying — and obviously quite upset.

I’ll let one of the prayer vigil participants pick up the story…

I watched him head down the street, alternating

between wiping the tears from his face and punching

the buildings in anger and frustration as he passed

them. Eventually he headed back toward the parking

lot. As he approached, I went to him first. All I

could think to say was that I was so very sorry for

his loss. He began to cry again.

Then a truck pulled up leaving the parking lot with

his girlfriend and her mother inside. The girl’s

mother yelled at him to get in and cursed him as he

opened the door. He had one foot inside, then

stepped back out and closed the door. As she drove

away he promptly sat down on the curb and cried

like a baby. Three of us sat down beside him — all

men — and cried with him.

Eventually, he began to talk. He was probably in

his very early twenties. He told us that his

girlfriend did not want to keep the child because

she feared they would not be able to provide for

him. He asked her how she could destroy a life

based on a hunch. He told her this child had a

heartbeat and a soul and deserved to live. He even

tried to convince her to, at the very least, put

the child up for adoption.

I was struck by the fact that this young man knew

all this simply because his heart told him it was

true. He was wise well beyond his years and he was

hurting terribly.

I was struck by the clear reality that fathers have

so little to do with whether their own children

live or die. I also couldn’t help but notice that

despite the high volume of Planned Parenthood

volunteers around, none of them approached him.

Before I left him, he stood up to hug me. All I

could tell him was what I truly believed — that

today, his child knows that his/her father fought

for it. That to his child, he is a hero and that

someday he would know that also.

Please pray for this young man and others like him.

The tragedy of abortion is real and happening every day. No one knows that better than he.

I sincerely hope this young man comes to embrace the exceptional advice he was given; but that will most certainly take time. I cannot even begin to imagine the anguish.

This is a first-person account of what abortion does to fathers. Who knows how many others have walked in his shoes, as there are more than a million abortions every year — and more than 50 million since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that opened the floodgates to abortion on demand.

Let’s pray even harder!

Wisconsin Right to Life News release:

“First it was the Associated Press, then FactCheck.org and now Time Magazine. All of them agree with  the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), Wisconsin Right to Life (WRTL) and other leading right-to-life organizations  that  the health care bills backed by the Obama White House will result in government funding of abortion,” said Susan Armacost, Legislative Director of Wisconsin Right to Life.”

Recieved the following information from a Brother Knight:

Dear Brother Knights:

As you know, I care greatly about the pro-life issue.  Right now, Congress is considering various health care reform proposals that could force insurance companies to cover abortion and make you and I pay for them with our tax dollars.

I just sent a letter to my Members of Congress asking that they vote against any reform bill that would cover abortion or force us to pay for them.  Can you help me by making your voice heard too?

Americans United for Life Action (www.aul.org) has set up a website that makes it easy to send a brief note to your Representative and Senators.  They even have a sample letter ready to go if you don’t want to write one yourself.  Just follow this link to send your note.
