There, we sip wine, have supper and talk. We cover a smorgasbord of topics: his art, my writing, family, near and far, and our faith journeys.

Last night, though, my husband came home with a secret. He was away for the evening, and when I asked him how it had gone, he said, “I can’t say.”

Oddly enough, this response didn’t bother me at all. Instead, it rather thrilled me.

Patriotism is the principle of the Fourth Degree, it’s ceremonials and activities are orchestrated such as to exemplify our love of our country and our church.  The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to encourage active Catholic citizenship while fostering a spirt of patriotism in it’s members and our community at large.

A KNIGHT TO THE RESCUE:

The Commander of the Navy ship that rescued Capt. Richard Phillips from the pirates is a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 20 years.

What’s the message hear? For all the good an organization does, why must other groups continue to oppose them?

Here’s another story that underlines how ludicrous the media have been in insisting Barack Obama was a natural choice for traditional Catholic and evangelical Christian voters: CNSNews.com correspondent Fred Lucas reports Obama finished stocking the advisory committee of his faith-based initiative with a bang: one new selection was Harry Knox, director of the “religion and faith program” of the gay-left Human Rights Campaign. Just last month, Knox described Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops as “discredited leaders” because of their opposition to same-sex marriage.
